The Rural Youth Innovation Award believes that innovation must be sustainable and collaborative. Therefore, it is essential that participating initiatives are developing activities that are in synergy with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SDGs were defined in 2015 as specific objectives of the 2030 Agenda. In September 2015, representatives of the 193 UN Member States recognized that the biggest global challenge is poverty eradication in all its forms and dimensions. And fighting it is a key requirement for sustainable development.
The 2030 Agenda was born with the consensus that we must all act to eradicate poverty and leave no one behind. The Agenda is an action plan for people, the planet and prosperity that seeks to strengthen universal peace. The plan describes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to eradicate poverty and promote a decent life for everyone on the planet.
