The Rural Youth Innovation Award in January 2020, a project financed by the China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation Facility, started from the need to identify and promote innovative initiatives undertaken by Latin American and Caribbean youth.
The project aims to support young people in applying their creativity at the service of inclusive and sustainable rural development, in search of a society that is more resilient to the effects of a crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
In these unprecedented circumstances, Latin American and Caribbean youth responded to the Award’s call with great enthusiasm, reaching close to 600 proposals registered in March 2020 for participation in its First Edition. After a rigorous selection process, the initiatives were evaluated and in the end, ten of them awarded. We have followed up on the evolution of their endeavors since July 2020.
